Journalism Academy Spring 2016
April 09, 2016 DS Centre, Istanbul, TurkeyDS Centre for Policy Studies organizes DS Journalism Academy, an exclusive experience that will give you the chance to build your own perspective on Turkey’s daily political environment.
DS Centre for Policy Studies, presents you DS Journalism Academy Spring 2016 for mid-career, professional journalists who work on or from the Middle Eastern and North African regions. The attendees will attend special lectures and panel sessions with senior names from Turkish academia, media and bureaucracy that will give them an opportunity to discuss the latest agenda.
Program will be held in three different provinces; Istanbul, Ankara and Gaziantep. Participants will take trips to the Turkish Parliament, Syrian Refugee Camps, important media centres and institutions. Furthermore, the attendees will get the opportunity to visit Presidential Palace.
What Is DS Journalism Academy?
DS Journalism Academy focuses on gathering journalists, who hold diverse perspectives, in Istanbul and enhance the relationship between participants while also giving them the opportunity to be part of an intellectual union for journalistic professionalism. In addition to giving attendees the chance to share their experiences to have a sound basis for experimental learning, the academy gives them the opportunity to make exclusive news and observe the daily political environment in Turkey more closely.
Who Should Apply?
This program targets mid-career journalists who specialize in Turkey, the Middle East and North Africa regions.
Selected fellows are expected to have a good command of both written and spoken English as all training will be in English.
Candidates must have the ability to present their previous works on Turkey, the Middle East or North Africa regions.
Candidates must have the desire to share what they learn through the program with other journalists back home.

Meetings and discussion sessions with experienced Turkish journalists, promising media leaders and policy-makers;
Making acquaintances with reputable Turkish journalists;
Meeting with Turkish politicians;
Trips to media centres;
Trips to Turkish film sets;
Trip to Syrian refugee camps;

What Do We Cover?
During the stated dates, we cover the accommodation, food and intercity transportation fees of the participants.
How to Apply?
The program is limited to its number of participant; hence applicants will be chosen after the registration.
